The Plan Behind a Federal Broadband Award

A tribal nation we advise just received a major federal broadband award. These awards are won on strategy, and we were proud to help build the one behind this one.

A tribal nation we have the privilege of advising just received a major federal broadband award. I'm not going to say much about who, or how much. I will say I'm proud of this one.

These awards are won on a plan

Federal broadband dollars for tribal lands don't get handed out on need alone. Every nation on the map has real need. What separates a funded application from a declined one is the plan: a clear, defensible case for how the money becomes deployed connectivity, and a technical strategy a federal reviewer can trust.

That's the part we work on.

We built it alongside their counsel

We worked hand in hand with the nation's legal counsel to formulate the game plan behind the application. Counsel carried the legal and procedural weight. We carried the technology strategy, translating deployment goals into the structure and language these programs reward. Two disciplines, one plan, and an award at the end of it.

I put real time into this one, and I'd do it again tomorrow.

Why it matters

Broadband on tribal land is not a convenience. It's telehealth for elders who would otherwise drive hours. It's students finishing homework without sitting in a parking lot to find a signal. It's a nation running its own government on its own infrastructure. An award like this moves all of that from a wish to a funded project.

If your nation is pursuing this

If you're a tribal government going after federal broadband or technology funding and you want the technology strategy done right, send me a note. This is the work we do, and days like this are a good reminder of why we do it.
